In September 2017, CJ Group is named to 2017 Change the World list, published by a multinational business magazine Fortune.



Fortune's Change the World list recognizes top 50 companies that have had a positive social impact through activities that are part of their core business strategy. It evaluates and ranks the companies by three factors - social impact, business results and degree of innovation. CJ Group ranked 38th on the Change the World list, becoming the first and sole Korean company chosen.

Fortune said CJ Group has been chosen for its efforts to create quality jobs for senior citizens and thus solve the issue of poverty among the elderly through its affiliate, CJ Logistics.

CJ Logistics hires senior citizens (aged 60 years and above) to serve as door-to-door delivery agents who, by using electric carts deliver packages to their communities from dedicated drop-off points which are usually located inside apartment complexes and around residential areas. The company began the service five years ago and today it has more than 150 base stations across the country. Over 1,100 jobs have been crated and seniors became more independent financially.

Based on lessons from this unique business model, CJ Logistics is about to create more jobs for vulnerable social groups of people who are considered to be at risk of poverty and social exclusion because of physical challenges, age and other factors. At the same time, the company is going to introduce more CSR projects such as the subway parcel service and these efforts will contribute to more participation and social inclusion of the socially vulnerable people.
