I am Shin Young soo CEO of CJ Logistics.

Your unwavering interest and support for CJ Logistics over the past year is truly appreciated. CJ Logistics has led the logistics industry by integrating cutting-edge technologies into our business, improving the convenience of people’s daily lives and bringing vitality to industrial development.

Today, we face a wave of change driven by various global challenges, such as climate change, resource depletion, and social inequality. This circumstance underscores ESG management as an essential strategy for a sustainable future, not merely an option. Responsible management has become an integral part of sustainable growth, and with this firm belief, CJ Logistics is actively committed to this mission.
At CJ Logistics, the ESG Committee spearheads efforts to define annual key initiatives and implement them in a structured manner through dedicated teams and working groups. Based on this framework, we have continuously refined our ESG approach and stepped up execution. The following are our key ESG milestones in 2024.

First, we made strides in eco-friendly logistics by improving energy efficiency and strengthening digital management infrastructure. CJ Logistics proudly became the first company in Korea to declare its commitment to achieving net-zero by 2050, with concrete reduction plans already in motion. Our step-by-step efforts span multiple areas, including energy efficiency improvements, a transition to eco-friendly transportation modes, such as electric vehicles (EVs) and hydrogen-powered vehicles, and the establishment of supporting infrastructure. Additionally, we introduced a waste digital management system to minimize waste generation while winning the “2024 WorldStar Packaging Award” for our tapeless delivery packaging solution, a clear demonstration of our commitment to innovation in the green packaging sector.

Second, we have built an ecosystem for co-prosperity, establishing CJ Logistics as a safe, fair, and desirable workplace. CJ Logistics is committed to advancing its management system to ensure human rights protection, workplace safety, and zero risks across the supply chain. To this end, we have identified human rights-related risks through multiple channels and devised remediation measures, while also implementing a top-notch integrated EHS (Environmental, Health, Safety) IT system and situation room. This effort earned us recognition as a “certified private safety experience facility” from the Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency, marking the first-of-its-kind milestone in the logistics sector. On the supply chain front, we conduct regular due diligence on suppliers, provide training, and monitor performance based on assessment findings. Additionally, in support of shared growth, we have carried out a diverse range of initiatives, including investment in and cultivation of startups, providing green packaging materials for small business owners, and operating a mutual growth fund.

Third, we have expanded ESG-based new businesses to secure future growth drivers by leveraging our distinguished technological capabilities. The green energy sector is in the global spotlight as a core future industry. Capitalizing on our extensive logistics infrastructure across the United States, we are accelerating our entry into emerging industries, such as battery recycling. In the hydrogen energy sector, we have broadened our reach beyond compressed hydrogen transportation to include liquid hydrogen logistics, while continuously building specialized infrastructure to support this transition. Additionally, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, we have established a private-public resource circulation system, further advancing the circular logistics system.

Distinguished stakeholders, Amid a rapid changing business environment and the growing climate crisis, CJ logistics is committed to placing ESG at the heart of our corporate strategy as we endeavor to fulfill our role as a responsible logistics company. Under the banner of our slogan, “We deliver the sustainable future,” we will further enhance our smart SCM (Supply Chain Management) capabilities to deliver greater value to both our customers and society.
Notably, our Sustainability Report released last year was honored with the Platinum Award at the 2024 LACP Spotlight Awards, hosted by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP), a testament to our solid competitive edge in global communications. As we move forward, we will continue to facilitate engagement with our stakeholders.
Leveraging our world-class technological capabilities, we will not only lead the global logistics market, but also evolve into a company that shapes a better world to future generations through innovations deeply rooted in sustainability.
