2023 CJ Logistics Superrace Championship Round 5: Inaugural Night Race in the Metropolitan region on August 19th

This landmark 5th round, hosted as the first-ever night race in the metropolitan region, set a new attendance benchmark for the country's premier motorsports event. A record-breaking 29,881 enthusiasts flocked to the event on that day (surpassing the previous single-day finals record established on April 28, 2019, with 29,764 attendees). Super 6000 Class Final Sees 29,881 Spectators at Yongin's Everland Speedway in Just One Day.

The championship's 5th round took place over two days, the 19th and 20th, at the Everland Speedway (2.538km, 37 laps for Super 6000). The prominent Super 6000 Class race unfolded as the metropolitan region's first night race on the 19th. Kim Jae-hyun of Nexen-Volgaz Motorsports Ignites Championship Competition with Season's First Victory. Kim Jae-hyun (Nexen-Volgaz Motorsports) celebrated his win.

Having secured the coveted pole position, he maintained his lead despite a close encounter with competitor Jang Hyun-jin (Seohan GP). Kim completed the race in 48 minutes and 49.444 seconds, demonstrating his prowess, a mere 0.179 seconds ahead of the persistent Jang. Following closely were Jang Hyun-jin (Seohan GP) and Jung Eui-chul (Nexen-Volgaz Motorsports), both noteworthy competitors.

Post-victory, Kim Jae-hyun expressed his gratitude, stating, "The night course at the speedway exerts significant pressure on the brakes. My team's unwavering support was pivotal in navigating these challenges." He elaborated on his experience, noting, "Early in the race, I grappled with wheel-lock as I defended my position. As the race progressed, I observed a diminishing grip on the front right tire, compelling me to be vigilant of the trailing competitors." In addition to his triumph, Kim was honored with the 'CJ Logistics Fastest Lap Award,' securing an additional driver point with an impressive lap time of 1 minute and 17.512 seconds in the 5th lap.

Accumulating 30 points from this round, Kim Jae-hyun has ascended to an overall second place, trailing the leader, Lee Chan-jun (ECSTA Racing), by a slim margin of 8 points. Despite his previous accomplishments, Lee Chan-jun, carrying a 100kg handicap this round, finished in the eighth position. On the 20th, the GT Class saw Lee Dong-ho (E RAIN Motorsports) clinch a well-deserved victory, marking his second win of the season. After securing the pole position in the previous 4th round but retiring prematurely, Lee's triumph in the 5th round was a commendable rebound. Meanwhile, victory went to Kim Min-hyun (V8) in the M Class. The Sports Prototype Cup Korea, held over two consecutive rounds, celebrated Rotor (of Thai nationality, URO Motorsports) as its champion. The day saw an enthusiastic turnout with over 9,019 attendees. The Super 6000 Class is gearing up for its next challenge, scheduled from September 23rd to 24th at the renowned Korea International Circuit (KIC) in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do, aptly named the Jeonnam GT.
